Earth Hour

A great event in Falkirk on Saturday night, do come along if you can.

Between 1 and 4 pm, there will be plenty happening off the High Street in the church grounds too - including an Earth Hour Wish tree.

Planting Beans at Bean Row

The Bean Row community garden took a great leap forward at the recent planning meeting (Sunday 19th February). Local group members met at the site to plan the veg plot and discussed how to transform our fourth garden into a local food demonstration garden. Space was planned for our stovies and soup patch, where to put the compost bin and what we can get from donations and what we need to buy.







The session finished with everyone present planting a bean sead. An appropriate start to the Bean Row garden.

Star Award

Friends of the Earth Falkirk were given recognition from Falkirk Council Litter Strategy team for their community gardens and litter picks over the year.

On Yer Bike

Over 350 people, most of them on their bikes, gathered outside the office of the Scottish Government on Wednesday 11th January to urge Scottish Ministers to increase funding for cycling and walking instead of funding expensive road-building programmes that will increase Scotland’s carbon footprint. Friends of the Earth Falkirk took part in the Stop Climate Choas Action along with other Friends of the Earth Activists from across the country. This was a well attended action with groups and individuals turning up on their bikes to show there is a stong demand for better funding for cycling and walking facilities in the next budget. The local group will be taking forward its cycle campaign to promote everyday cycling in Falkirk over 2012.
